Talent and inspiration are not always enough for artists to stand out on stage. In order to distinguish and recognize the quality of such professionals' work, Braskem created two theater awards, in the Brazilian states of Bahia and Rio Grande do Sul. The company also promotes culture through debates with the major thinkers who seek to make access to knowledge more democratic.
The Braskem Theater Award recognizes and awards Bahia state's top theater productions, opening up a space for the emergence of new talents. In 2014, the initiative celebrated its 21st year, consolidating the program Strengthening the Scenic Arts. The expansion allowed the company to benefit a greater number of people through cultural training, access to tickets and the offer of award-winning plays in other states. Information about the initiative is published on its Facebook fanpage its Facebook.
Since 2005, the Braskem on Stage Award has elected the best theater productions in the city of Porto Alegre, in Rio Grande do Sul. The goal is to promote the local theater arts, encouraging the emergence of new groups and fostering the artistic growth of those that already exist. Since 2013, the event has taken 20 performances – with 10 prior ones – to the city's main festival, Porto Alegre on Stage, which is also sponsored by Braskem
The company also invests in the project Frontiers of Thinking, which believes in the freedom of intellectual expression and quality education as tools for development. Through an annual series of conferences held in São Paulo and Rio Grande do Sul, it discusses topics and ideas with important personalities. The fronteiras.com portal features the project's one-of-a-kind audiovisual archive, including interviews, testimonials, recordings and a behind-the-scenes look at its seven years of existence. Updated each week, it has more than 100 published videos with captions in Portuguese, Spanish and English and a focus on expanding the content into the Americas. It also has a fanpage on Facebook.
